What are dental implants?

To install your implant, Dr. Adli anesthetizes your mouth, makes a small, surgical incision in your gum, drills a tiny hole in your jaw bone, and inserts your implant. She then sends you home to heal as your implant fuses with your jawbone over the next few months.
Once your implant has fused, you come back to place your abutment, a tiny post that connects to your implant, sticks up out of your gum line, and holds your restoration.
In some cases, Dr. Adli can place your abutment and your implant in the same visit, but other patients require a separate procedure for this step.
After your abutment is firmly in place, Dr. Adli takes an impression of your mouth that’s used to create your restoration.
