Orthodontics Q & A

What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a dental specialty that uses fixed and removable oral appliance to properly align your teeth and bite.

Some of the conditions that orthodontics treat include:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Widely spaced teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Open bite

Orthodontics is also frequently used for cosmetic purposes to generally straighten teeth and improve the appearance of your smile.

Why should I get orthodontic treatment?

A properly aligned smile is more than just cosmetically appealing, it’s actually healthier for you.

Teeth that are improperly aligned are harder to keep clean and are therefore more susceptible to tooth decay, tooth loss, and periodontal disease.

Improperly aligned teeth also throw off the distribution of force in your bite. This puts extra stress on your mouth and jaw, which leads to excessive wear-and-tear and a higher risk of developing TMJ disorder.

What orthodontic treatments do you offer?

Dr. Adli is proud to offer Invisalign® and the Inman Aligner™ for her patients looking to improve the alignment of their smile.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontics treatment that straightens your smile and bite with clear, plastic, removable aligners.

Your series of aligners are fabricated from an impression of your bite and fit snugly over your smile, exerting a small-yet-constant amount of pressure that gradually pushes them into proper alignment.

You can remove your aligners when you need to eat, brush, or floss, but otherwise, you wear them all day, every day. You move on to the next set of aligners in your series every two weeks until you’ve reached your target alignment.

Some patients finish their Invisalign treatment in as little as nine months, at which point they have a beautifully improved smile that lasts a lifetime.

Inman Aligner

The Inman Aligner is a removable oral device that’s designed to quickly straighten your front teeth. It uses nickel-titanium coil springs and two aligner bows that exert pressure that pushes outward from inside your smile and pressure that pushes inward from outside of your smile.

Wearing your Inman Aligner for 16-20 hours per day can give you results in as little as six weeks.
